Thank you for wanting to learn more about Madison, Alabama! Founded in 1869, Madison is located 10 miles west of Huntsville. We’re known for our high quality schools, quaint downtown, proximity to Huntsville International Airport, festivals, walking trails, and family fun!

 Madison is a city of 42,938 people and growing. Within the 5 mile ring from downtown Madison over 51,391 people live in 20,818 households with a 2010 estimated avg. household income of $85,191 – 48.5% of households have an income greater than $75,000.(source: STDB) Over 450 businesses call Madison home and enjoy our lower cost of doing business in a high quality market of educated professionals and hardworking labor force. 

Our largest employers are Intergraph Corporation, Madison City Schools, STI Electronics, and Tyonek, among other growing businesses. Madison’s character is found in its rolling hills, familyfriendliness, graceful trees, recreational opportunities, and excellent schools. 

Open space and recreation abound with hundreds of acres of park land and greenways, a skate park, miniature golf course, swimming pool, the Rainbow Mountain Preserve, historic downtown and the new state of the art YMCA. The railroad arrived in 1856, bringing freight lines and business growth to Madison Station as it was called then.
